THREE motorists were left with minor injuries after a crash in the overtaking lane of the motorway.

Police said that a saloon car hit the central reservation area on the M65 between junctions six and seven westbound.

Two other vehicles were also involved.

An ambulance, that happened to the travelling along the motorway at the time, pulled onto the hard shouldered to attend to the injured driver.

Police were then called by the ambulance service around 6.35pm tonight.

After hitting the central reservation area one car span around on the motorway and was facing the wrong direction.

Officers closed lanes one and three to move the vehicle off the carriageway.
