A MAN who filled up his car and a large portable tank with diesel at a petrol station before driving off without paying is being hunted by police.

The man thought to be in his late 30s or 40s, drove on to Cordingley’s service station in Helmshore Road, Haslingden, before taking fuel totalling £157.

The man is seen to pull up at the diesel pump, fill up the tank of his car before opening the rear door and filling up what appears to be a large petrol can or similar before replacing the pump and driving away without paying.

Police are appealing for information and are urging anyone with any information to come forward and contact them.

“The driver is described as white, of medium, stocky build and was wearing a cream and brown baseball cap at the time.”

The theft happened shortly after 6pm, on Friday, September 23.
