DEGREE students celebrated their achievements at Accrington and Rossendale College’s annual higher education awards ceremony.

Graduates put on their caps and gowns to receive their certificates for honours and foundation degrees as well as professional qualifications such as NVQs.

Guest of honour Dr Malcolm McVicar, Vice Chancellor, University of Central Lancashire, congratulated students during the ceremony at Accrington Town Hall.

This year’s Higher Education Student of the Year was Doreen Nsabagwa from the BA (Hons) Health and Applied Social Studies course.

Charlotte Scheffmann, dean of higher education at Accrington and Rossendale College, said: “We are hugely proud of our higher education learners and their success.”
