A HOST of Coronation Street stars are set to appear at an event in aid of two East Lancashire charities.

The star-studded event at Stanley House, Mellor, has been organised by Leo Flood, of Blackburn's Leo's Carpets.

Up to 180 people are expected at the flash fundraiser tonight, from 7pm, for a dinner and dance with entertainment from the actors.

Guests are set to include Bruce Jones who plays Les Battersby, Jennie McAlpine who plays Fizz Brown, Jenny Platt, who plays Violet Wilson, Malcolm Hebden who plays Norris Cole, Julie Hesmondhalgh who plays Hayley Cropper, and Antony Cotton who plays Sean Tully.

Mr Flood is not new to holding fundraisers. He raised £20,000 from a themed 007 night at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors, in 2002 in aid of children's charities, Derian House, Chorley, and Francis House, Manchester.

This year's event is to raise funds for Blackburn charity Those On The Margins Of A Society (THOMAS), and Accrington charity Maundy relief.

Mr Flood said he hoped to raise in excess of £20,000 on the night from tickets and an auction with secret high-class lots. Tickets are all sold.
