TONY Wright has performed in front of thousands of fans at some of the world's biggest rock festivals. He's in Accrington on September 22 - and the former Terrorvision frontman wouldn't have it any other way.

"It's just really good to be able to say that we are doing what we want to do," said Tony, who will be performing at The Attic in Warner Street with his band Laika Dog.

"The moment I didn't enjoy getting up on stage I would stop immediately," said Tony. "

I enjoyed everything we did with Terrorvision and I'm very proud of what we achieved.

"But by the end I think we were all disillusioned with the music business.

"It is small venues like The Attic and the people behind them who are genuine fans of live music that are giving bands the chance.

"Even my mum asks why I don't play songs she knows and it would be all too easy to just play covers. But that, for me is not what music is about."

Laika Dog will be performing tracks from their self-financed album Forever And A Day, which they released last year but which has not got national distribution rights. And they will also be playing some new material.

"People tell me that Laika Dog are even bouncier than Terrorvision," said Tony.

"But I can't believe that. I think the sound is definitely different.

"We're more stepped-back than Terrorvision. We write about what we see around us.

"I think that's the key really. Music has to be honest."

This won't be Tony's first appearance at The Attic and, if he has his way, it won't be his last.

"We had a brilliant time last time we were there and the audience was really great," said Tony.

"I will play venues like this every time they ask because they are so important for the music scene."

Laika Dog play The Attic, Warner Street, Accrington, Friday, September 22.
