A COMMUNITY bank has become the first tenant to begin trading at Colne’s revamped Shackleton Hall.
Staff from Pendle Community Credit Union (PCCU) have moved into ground-floor premises at the landmark building, in Albert Road.
Work on their new offices, off the venue’s Grand Arcade, was only completed by contractors last weekend.
Previously, the credit union had a number of temporary homes in the town, including the town hall, indoor market and Market Street library. But Shackleton Hall, home to the town’s first co-operative, will now be the permanent base for Colne savers.
Credit union bosses have also recently celebrated the first anniversary of their town centre premises in Manchester Road, Nelson.
Established in 1982, the PCCU now has 3,200 members across the borough and has given out loans totalling £15million.
The keys will be handed over the building’s main tenants, Housing Pendle, on Friday.
