A Chorley high school has been closed until next week and exams cancelled after an overnight fire damaged school buildings.
Firefighters were alerted to Holy Cross Catholic High School, Myles Standish Way at around 2am today and found a ground floor storage area in the main building ablaze.
Fire crews from Chorley, Bamber Bridge and Leyland spent around four hours at the school, concentrating on an area close to the school’s kitchens.
The blaze damaged the storage area and caused smoke damage to the kitchens.
A statement placed on the school’s website said: “The school will be closed until Monday due to some minor damage caused by a small fire overnight.
"The Year Seven guidance evening and all exams have also been cancelled for the same reason.”
An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
