PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has called for a debate on Government funding for additional school places following a visit to Barnoldswick Primary School.
Mr Stephenson said in the House of Commons: “In the past year, a £3.5million rebuild of Whitefield Infant School in Nelson and a £4.2 million total rebuild of Laneshawbridge Primary School in Colne have been agreed.
“However, last Friday I visited Barnoldswick Church of England Primary School, which has very cramped buildings.
“A rising birth rate in the area means that there is a lack of school places in the town.
"A total rebuild of the school is long overdue.”
George Young MP, the leader of the House of Commons, told Mr Stephenson to write to education secretary Michael Gove about the school.
