PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson joined the council’s licensing team to carry out test purchasing visits this week.
The council visited a number of pubs and off-licences with a 15-year-old boy to see if they would serve them alcohol, but every premises asked for proof of age.
Mr Stephenson said: “I enjoyed joining the licensing team to highlight the importance of Alcohol Awareness Week.
“Underage drinking is a real problem across the UK and unfortunately can be the source of crime and anti-social behaviour in our communities.
Mick Armfield, Pendle Council’s licensing enforcement officer, said: “Test purchasing operations are carried out regularly in Pendle, but there will be an increased focus on this during Alcohol Awareness Week.
“Problems with anti-social behaviour often stem from the young people drinking alcohol illegally.
“If we can stop those who are supplying them with the alcohol, we have more chance of reducing anti-social behaviour on our streets.”
