A CAMPER van enthusiast saw one of his vehicles go up in flames.

Two fire crews from Colne were called to a large detached garage in Barrowford Road, Colne, at 11.45am today after a man in his 50s reported smoke coming from the outbuilding.

Inside was a camper van he had been working on, which was totally destroyed by fire, as was the garage and its contents.

Watch manager Richard Taylor said it was believed to have been an electrical fault which started the fire and said the incident was ‘accidental’.

He said: “We had to take a defensive stance and cool LPG cylinders to remove them from the scene.

“It was a quite a large, but isolated fire and took us around three hours to put out.”

The man had to move two other camper vans he was working on out of the way so they did not catch fire too.
