SHOPPERS in Burnley will be able to take advantage of free parking on selected Saturdays in coming months.

The moves comes as part of the council’s Rediscover Shopping in Burnley campaign, which hopes to attract more shoppers into the town centre.

New high street shops, including Next and Poundworld, have been announced for the town during the past week.

Between 10am and 6pm on August 11, September 8 and October 13, parking will be free in any of the council’s pay and display car parks.

Coun Andy Tatchell, executive member for regeneration and economic development, said: “It is a priority for the council to attract more shoppers and visitors to Burnley and to boost the town centre economy. A selection of free parking days was one of our election pledges which we have fulfilled at our earliest opportunity.”
