You can celebrate Easter by joining in with some of the fun events arranged in the local area.

On Easter Monday, April 9, Avenham Park in Preston will be holding a fun day from 10am to 4pm.

The highlight of the day will be the annual egg rolling event, while other entertainments on the day include stalls, face painting, a climbing wall, bouncy castle and an appearance from Shaun Rogerson from last year's X Factor.

Another egg rolling event will take place on Easter Sunday, at Hoghton Tower, where eggs will be supplied for decorating and rolled down the drive between 2 and 4pm, with prizes for the winners.

Hoghton Tower will then be open for guided tours on Easter Monday from 11am to 5pm. Visitors can view the banqueting hall, staterooms, Tudor well-house and dungeons and gardens, tearoom and gift shop.

Preston City Council's Go2 sports development team are also offering free climbing sessions with their mobile climbing tower.

The tower will be at Truro Place, Froam Street on Tuesday, April 10, between 12pm and 2pm, and at Grange Primary School, Grange Avenue, Ribbleton, between 3 and 5pm on the same day.

The following day the tower will be at Brookfield green, opposite Greenlands Primary School, between 12 and 2pm, and at St Teresa's Primary School, Downing Street between 3 and 5pm.

Any children wishing to attend one of the climbing tower sessions should obtain a consent form from the Go2 team on 01772 906186.

And those in the South Ribble area can take part in an Easter Egg Hunt and Crafts. That's at the Walton-le-Dale Youth and Community Centre in Brindle Road. Entry is just £1 per child and booking is essential. For more information, call 422316.
