Police community support workers and council bosses are rolling up their sleeves to scrub off graffiti left behind by local youths.
It is part of the Stamp it Out Campaign, run by the police and Preston City Council, and will see graffiti removed from walls around Preston's University of Central Lancashire.
The most affected areas in line for a clean up include Pedder Street, Fleetwood Street, the industrial side of the university, The Cloisters and the St Walburges area.
Byrony Fell, a member of the neighbourhood policing team, said: "The university has an ongoing problem with graffiti. Most of the graffiti is in many layers and has been there for years and a lot of it is tags from local youths. Local youths in the area see a tag on the wall and decide to add their own so the amount of graffiti increases."
"My colleague Jacqui Kurz and I started to scrub down the walls ourselves and then we managed to convince the council to clean it up too."
The initiative began on April 18 and will run until the next PACT meeting on Thursday, May 24, at the St Walburge's Parish Centre, St Walburge's Gardens, at 6pm.
