A Chinese illegal immigrant who claimed he was duped into taking care of a cannabis factory in Preston has been jailed for three years.
A large scale sophisticated operation was discovered when police searched a home in Manor Avenue, Fulwood.
There were nearly two hundred and forty plants growing, with a possible value of around £20,000 Preston Crown Court heard that when interviewed by police, Xia Xiang Lin told officers he thought he had been looking after Chinese herbal medicinal plants.
The 34-year-old, who came to this country in March, admitted being involved in the production of the drug.
His barrister, Joe Boyd, said Lin had been living in very spartan conditions, not going out and receiving a small amount of money.
