Yellow line joy

I write with regard to the article by Yellow Line Fury by Andrew Greaves, Citizen November 29.

The three individuals he chose to interview, displayed a selfish and narrow minded attitude, by implying that because the students did not park near them, then it was not their problem.

If both they had stopped to think for one second about the result of limiting the yellow lines to the offending areas, they may have come to the conclusion that the students would have parked elsewhere, and by displacement the problem would then have been for them to solve.

Would they then have been asking: "Why didn't the council paint yellow lines in front of our house?""why is it only limited to x, y and z roads?"

The student parking problem caused by the management (a term I use very loosely indeed) of Runshaw College has been rumbling on for three years and the much publicised Lancashire Local meeting in August this year, was attended by great number of residents from the Worden Park Estate.

The topic of student parking was discussed at length and all the various arguments were put to the councillors, including limiting the yellow lines to the roads that were most affected.

The council made the decision to paint yellow lines throughout the estate, which has now returned to the safe environment it used to be before the Runshaw College students utilised the Worden Park Estate as the overflow car park for their college.
