A world-famous crime writer whose books have sold millions across the globe is heading to Preston to mark the launch of his new book.

Jeffery Deaver, whose detective novel The Bone Collector, was made into a blockbuster movie starring Denzel Washington, will be at Preston's County Hall on July 25, from 7pm-8pm, to give an insight into the writing process and his books.

Fans of Deaver, who is based in the USA, will be familiar with the author's best-loved character, the quadriplegic detective Lincoln Rhyme, a character who features in his new book, The Broken Window, out on July 24.

The event promises a great treat for crime readers and writers who are awaiting the announcement of the shortlist of the prestigious Theakston’s Old Peculiar award on July 26.

Tickets can be reserved for £5, redeemable against the purchase of a book on the night, and are available from Silverdell on 01772 683444.
