Police in Preston are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in a city centre park.

The two victims, 16 year old Preston students, were approached by two young men while sitting in Avenham Park in the city, at 6.30pm, on Thursday June 19.

The two youths, both aged approx 18 to 19, threatened the young man and his girlfriend before stealing his blue iPod Nano player.

DC Michelle Willis said: "This is an unusual offence in what is usually a quiet safe part of Preston.

"The two students were shaken up by the offence and I am appealing to anyone who was in or around the park around the time of the offence to make contact with me or a member of the investigation team.

"The two offenders left heading towards Fishergate so people may have noticed them leaving the park around 6.30pm."

The robbers are described as white men, both 5ft 9ins tall and of slim to medium build.

One of the men was wearing a black hooded top, blue baggy jeans with distinctive high turn ups, white trainers, sunglasses and spoke with a strong local accent.
