A 50-year-old man is being quizzed by detectives over the attempted murder of a man in Preston this afternoon.
Police were called to a flat in Duke Street, in the Avenham area of the city, at around noon.
They found a 44-year-old man with serious head injuries.
He is now fighting for his life at the Royal Preston Hospital.
The 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being detained at Preston police station.
Officers are making door-to-door inquiries in the Duke Street area and are appealing for witnesses.
