A woman is in a critical condition after falling 40ft from a block of flats in the Avenham area of Preston.
The 29-year-old woman, fell from a first floor balcony at her home in Richmond House, Avenham, just after 11.30pm, yesterday.
People watched in horror as she plunged to the ground from the flats in Manchester Road.
Police in Preston said they are not treating the incident as suspicious but would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the fall.
Detective Sergeant, John Crichton, said: “Ambulance crews arrived at the scene to find the woman conscious but she was unable to communicate.
“We are not treating the incident as suspicious although we would like to speak to anyone who may have any information about the incident.”
The woman is in a critical condition at the Royal Preston Hospital where she is being treated for multiple fractures.
