A COCAINE addict who planned to fund his habit by selling the Class A drug to friends has been jailed for three years and four months.

The home of Robert Wareing, 25, was searched by police last May, Preston Crown Court was told.

Officers found 18 grammes of cocaine which would have been worth up to £1,550.

In the house police found a list of names and amounts which the Crown regarded as a "dealer list".

Wareing, of Kestor Lane, Longridge, pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intention to supply.

He admitted in his basis of plea to the court that he was supplying to friends.

Michael Murray, defending, asked the court not to sent Wareing, who was a man of previous good character, to prison.

Mr Murray said "It is not a question of him making thousands upon thousands of pounds by a well organised set up which provides him with a good lifestyle, as is often the case.

"The defendant is very much right at the bottom end of the scale."

He said the defendant was working on his drug rehabilitation and would come out "cleansed" at the other end.

The court was told that the police search happened at Wareing's previous address in Mersey Street, Longridge.

When asked if there were any drugs on the premises, Wareing immediately pointed to a package on the mantelpiece.

Officers recovered a cash bag containing another sixteen small bags.

More cocaine was found in a bedroom safe, along with other items associated with drugs.

Lazy reporting, I was always under the impression the price of a gram of cocaine was around the £40 mark. Which would put the worth of the 18 grammes at £720
