Garden centre toasts Christmas season

With less than 100 shopping days left to Christmas, a garden centre midway between Leyland and Chorley has cracked open a festive treat for customers.

Wyevale Garden Centre, Southport Road, Ulnes Walton, is officially declaring its festive displays open to the public next week.

Customers are invited to the Southport Road garden centre’s Christmas Preview Night on Thursday, October 16, from 4pm until 8pm, to be the first to see the site’s festive decorations in all their glory.

Garden centre manager, Christina Smith, said: “It is going to be a truly magical evening and the culmination of several months’ hard work by our Christmas team.

"It is the official start to our countdown to Christmas.

"Father Christmas will be in residence in his grotto from Saturday, November 22.”

The festive displays in-store include themes such as Winter Woodland, Frosty Dawn, Ski Christmas and Baby’s first Christmas.

Guests will receive a complimentary glass of mulled fruit punch and a mince pie on arrival, while stocks last, and there will be entertainment for all the family including a jazz band playing Christmas music and gift food tasting.

Christina added: “The evening promises to be fun for all the family.

"The restaurant will be open for the evening and there will be a festive menu available to purchase from.”

“To help visitors get in the mood for Christmas there will also be free demonstrations on how to decorate your tree and wrap your gifts.

"Wyevale Gardening Club and Over 60s cardholders will receive a 15 per cent discount off everything during the event.
