A hospital charity fund has been given a welcome boost today thanks to the fundraising efforts of three local police officers.

Police officers Dave Shaw, Lisa Bennett and Karen Bramwood, from Garstang Police Station, took part in the town's annual Victorian festival to raise funds for the Incubator Appeal at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The three of them held a tombola at the two-day festival and managed to raise almost £300 for the Incubator Appeal, which was established to raise funds for good causes at both Chorley and South Ribble Hospital and the Royal Preston Hospital.

Viv Culshaw, a Patient Governor for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and the brainwave behind the Incubator Appeal, accepted the cheque on the Trust's behalf today in the main entrance of Royal Preston Hospital.

Dave Shaw, Community Beat Manager for Garstang, said: "We are delighted at the amount we managed to raise through the tombola and must say a big thank you to all the local businesses who did a sterling job in donating prizes for us to give away."

Viv said: "We are very grateful to the three police officers for their generous donation, which will go towards providing patient comfort improvements."

If you know of a worthy cause at the Trust where you think the money should go you can submit a bid by filling in a form, which can be obtained by phoning 01772 522884 or can be found next to the incubator at Royal Preston Hospital.
