The many and varied attractions of the borough of Wyre, which includes Garstang, near Preston, will go before the public this weekend at a major travel show in the north west.
Staff from Wyre Borough Council's Leisure, Culture and Tourist Services will be at at the Holiday and Travel Show at the Gmex venue in Manchester.
And they will be distributing two brand new publications which show why Wyre is a great place to visit.
The Wyre What's On Guide for 2008 is an easy to follow and well-illustrated publication which lists a huge variety of events throughout Wyre through to December 2008.
Arts and Entertainment, Theatre, Countryside Pursuits, Sport and Leisure - they are all covered in this handy-sized booklet.
Plus there is a lot of information about clubs and societies in Wyre with something to suit many interests.
The Wyre Visitor Guide for 2008 contains some stunning images which underline what a varied place the Borough is - from exciting coastline to awesome countryside.
The guide is a mine of information on events, venues and accomodation.
Rachel Reeves is Senior Manager for Tourist and Visitor Services at Wyre.
She said: "The interenet has had an impact on the way people choose and book holidays but requests for printed information are still strong."
You can pick up a copy of the What's On Guide and the Visitor Guide from Tourist Information Centres, public halls and the Civic Centre in Breck Road, Poulton-le-Fylde.
Or go online to the council's website via the link below where you can also see additional events which are added to the diary as they come in from organisers.
If you wish to join the What's On mailing list to receive the publicational annually, contact Tourism Promotions Officer Rebecca Parkinson on 01253 887480.
Rebecca said: "We try to make the What's On Guide as comprehensive as we can and we are grateful for the help we get from the community who supply information about many and varied activities."
Tom Pridmore, head of Leisure, Culture and Tourist Services at Wyre Borough Council said: "Tourism is a very valuable industry to Wyre and benefits a wide range of related industries such as retail, food and drink and even public transport as well as supporting local communities and small businesses.
"If we ceased promoting Wyre to potential visitors there would be huge implications to the local economy.
"Both these publications will play a valuable part in helping local people find out what's going on in their community and in encouraging more people to visit the Borough of Wyre."
