OUR older generation should be able to go about their daily routines without fear of being victimised.
But criminals are seeing these vulnerable people as easy prey.
Now a mugger has forced an 84-year-old woman to switch post offices after stealing her purse in a cruel attack.
At 6ft tall, he towered above defenceless Ora Walton, who has worked hard all her life as a weaver and cleaner.
The thug sneaked up behind her after she had collected her pension and knocked her to the ground before reaching into her coat to grab her purse containing £136.71.
She was left badly shaken by the robbery ordeal – her third in as many years – and needed hospital treatment for her injuries.
These sorts of criminals are the lowest of the low.
And if unemployment increases and police numbers are affected by cuts, there is a danger they may take advantage of the situation.
The whole community must now rally together and report this thug to police before he strikes again.
