ROQUE Santa Cruz admits he can't wait to team up spearhead the Blackburn Rovers attack with Benni McCarthy.

There is a strong chance that hot-shot McCarthy, last season's top scorer with 24 league and cup goals, will start up front with Santa Cruz against Everton tomorrow.

"It's important for me to be playing with Benni," said the Paraguay international.

"He did so well last year. We are going to try and give to the team.

"Everton might be a very difficult game, but we are looking forward to taking the three points."

Santa Cruz has enjoyed a dream start for Rovers since completing his £3.3million move from Bayern Munich, netting in their opening Premiership game at Middlesborough and then grabbing the winner against Mypa-47 in the UEFA Cup second qualifying round, first leg.

And the 26-year-old believes Rovers can really hit the heights this season.

Santa Cruz added: "The target is to be in the European places. But you never know.

"The more we play, the better we can become and then the targets may change. But everybody wants to play well and have a good season."
