FORMER Ewood favourite Tim Sherwood will kick off a new chapter in his colourful career when Rovers meet Everton at Goodison Park today.

Sherwood, who skippered Rovers to the Premier League title in 1995, has been snapped up by Setanta Sport as a match anaylst on a three-year contract.

And the ex-England midfielder is delighted his first game for his new employers features the club where he enjoyed the happiest years of his playing career.

Sherwood told the Lancashire Telegraph: "I'm really excited to be involved in something like this from the start, and I couldn't have chosen a better game to make my debut than one featuring the club which is closest to my heart.

"Both teams will fancy their chances of finishing in the top six, so it should be a cracker."

Despite living in the south these days, Sherwood still keeps close tabs on Rovers' progress, and he genuinely believes manager Mark Hughes is building a squad capable of challenging the big boys.

"For Blackburn to finish in a UEFA Cup spot would be like Spurs finishing in the Champions League places," said Sherwood.

"It's definitely achieveable but it's going to take some doing because the Premiership is going to be more competitive than ever this season."

Setanta Sports will screen 46 Barclays Premier League games exclusively live this season.
