Join the Rosemere bike ride


Family riders and novice cyclists to seasoned amateur bike riders are being urged to enter a charity bike ride in aid of local cancer patients.

The annual Rosemere Cancer Foundation Preston to Blackpool to Preston bike ride will be held on Sunday 11 May 2007.

The event aims to raise funds to support the provision of cancer services at the cancer centre at Royal Preston Hospital, part of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust', and in the local cancer units throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria.

The 30-mile route starts in Catforth near Preston and takes riders along the quiet country lanes of Lancashire to the outskirts of Blackpool to finish back in the village of Catforth.

Places are available for up to 300 riders and the fun, family event costs £10 to enter and a prize will be awarded to the person who raises the most sponsorship money for Rosemere. Every rider will also receive a commemorative T-shirt.

The route will be marshalled and refreshments will be provided on route for those taking part.

Ron McAndrew, Events Coordinator, Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: "The event is growing year on year. It is a great introduction to cycling for novice cyclists and families and there's a wonderful atmosphere and camaraderie among those taking part.

"We are encouraging people to join in the fun event and help raise much needed funds for cancer patients."
