RAWTENSTALL skipper, Vinny Hanson, is predicting an intriguing cup battle against East Lancs.

Hanson said: "We have one of the strongest bowling attacks and, on their day, East Lancs, have one of the best batting line-ups so it should be an interesting contest."

He added: "The cup becomes more apparent at this stage because you know you are just two victories away from the final."

Second team opener, Tom Chadwick, deputises for Andy Riley who is unavailable.

Phil Bolton has stepped down as the captain of East Lancs after admitting he can no longer give one hundred per cent commitment to the role.

Bolton has had to miss a few games recently because he's been moving house so he's handed over the reins to Paul Turner, who will take charge for the rest of the season.

"I can't devote 100 per cent commitment to the captaincy at the moment and if you can't do that then it's unfair on me and it's unfair on the rest of the team," said Bolton.

COLNE will be hoping history repeats itself when they entertain Haslingden tomorrow.

The Horsfield club have beaten Haslingden on their way to their last two cup finals the last of which they won in 1999.

Skipper David Swarbrick, who played in the cup-winning side, said: "We'll be hoping it is a lucky omen because we always seem to do well against Hassy in the cup."

Colne are unchanged from the side that knocked holders Ramsbottom out of the cup last weekend.

HASLINGDEN, who beat Rishton last weekend to progress to the second round, swap Andrew Smith for Leighton Paul.

ENFIELD captain David Bracewell is hoping for more home comforts tomorrow.

The Lancashire League leaders have been drawn to play at Dill Hall Lane in all cup competitions so far this season.

And Bracewell wants their unbeaten start to continue against Nelson in the Worsley Cup second round to keep their bid for the double on course.

"We only won six games all last season but we've won seven out of seven so far," said the skipper, who will field a full-strength side.

"Their pro's in pretty good form but it benefits us in the cup because he can only bowls 10 overs, and we've got five bowlers who we use every game."

But second-placed NELSON will be keen to put a dent in Enfield's early season winning run.

This will be the first time the two sides have met this season as their league clash, which was scheduled for May 7, fell foul of the weather.

Billy Jamil is replaced by Marcus Phelan in the Nelson line-up.

BURNLEY will want their cup to run over to banish any league doldrums.

The Turf Moor side have yet to record a league win but will be seeking a fourth cup scalp when they entertain Todmorden tomorrow.

Captain Stuart Priestley's recovery from injury is a timely boost for TODMORDEN.
