WEST Craven Warriors gained a vital win that could so a long way to ensuring they remain in Division Three for another season.

Despite the close scoreline, the battling Barnoldswick side dominated throughout the clash at Victory Park.

But the home side got off to the worst possible start when the Greetland centre swooped on a spilt ball to race in from 30 yards out.

However, West Craven’s response was to run in a spectacular try of their own.

Bringing the ball way from their own line, a superb short ball from stand-off Lee Hird put Gary Lancaster through the gap and the centre weaved his way past the Greetland defence, holding off three players to score a wonderful try.

With the sides locked at 4-4 at the break, West Craven made a great start to the second half with Ashley Honeyman going off in the corner after good work by Paul Johns.

Another back move then saw Adam Dix draw his defender before popping a pass to Curt Smith who showed great pace to run in Craven’s third try.

And the clinched victory when the same two players combined again with Smith giving the simplest of tasks of diving over in the corner.
