WELL-known former Clarets have been reunited at amateur side Burnley Grammar School Old Boys and non-league club Market Drayton Town.

Burnley Grammar School Old Boys, who play in the East Lancashire League, are managed by former Clarets striker Andy Payton and John Mullin has become his latest signing.

Another former Clarets player, Paul Smith, was already playing for the team but Mullin will also now link up with the club.

The 36-year-old, who made more than 100 appearances for the Clarets over the course of two spells, has been working for Burnley’s centre of excellence since retiring from professional football 18 months ago after a spell alongside brother Paul at Accrington Stanley.

Elsewhere, in Shropshire, former Burnley boss Jimmy Mullen recently took over as manager of Evo-Stik League First Division South side Market Drayton Town.

And Mullen, who had worked as assistant manager to Ronnie Moore at Rotherham United until Moore’s departure in March, has now signed ex-Clarets striker Andy Cooke.

Mullen previously brought Cooke to Burnley from Welsh side Newtown in 1995.

The 37-year-old now lives in Market Drayton and also turns out for the veterans’ side of another of his old clubs, Stoke City.

“This is a bit of a coup for us,” said a Market Drayton Town spokesman.
