BLACKBURN’S Phil Scholes is among only four British rally drivers to have been nominated to take part in the Fiesta International Shootout this week.
The 22-year-old is currently in Cumbria taking part in the event after gaining selection thanks to his encouraging performance in this year’s Fiesta Sport Challenge.
Scholes finished second in the series with the winner, Doncaster’s Jack Rowe, automatically earning a place in the International Shootout.
But Scholes claimed one of two wild card places after impressing key figures at M-Sport, who are involved with the Fiesta Sport Challenge.
The Fiesta International Shootout includes a series of fitness and driving tests and brings together top Fiesta drivers from across the world.
Young hopefuls have travelled from as far afield as New Zealand to take part.
And the winner could earn a job with M-Sport next year, allowing the driver to continue learning his trade and hopefully progress his career in the years to come.
