STEVE Kean believes Blackburn Rovers are still good enough to finish in the top 10 this season after declaring that his players are in confident mood ahead of tomorrow’s important trip to Wigan.

Rovers are currently second bottom of the Premier League but Kean says opposition managers such as Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp and Chelsea’s Andre Villas-Boas have recently complimented his side’s performances.

“If you look at this season and the way we’re playing, we deserve more points,” he said. “And that’s coming from speaking to people like Harry. He told me he felt we deserved a point when we lost to Spurs.

“Andre Villas-Boas and John Terry also came in to see me after Chelsea beat us. They told us what a tough game we had given them and guys like Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard said the same thing.

“I don’t think they say that week in, week out to other managers.

“I don’t look at this season in terms of trying to salvage something. I think we have a good enough squad to be in the top 10.

“We look forward to Wigan. Sometimes if you’re not playing well and you look at a fixture it can put pressure on the team and yourself.

“But we’re confident and upbeat going into this game.”
