Preston runner Helen Clitheroe is delighted to be back to fitness and heading to her seventh European Cross Country Championships this weekend - and looking forward to helping the Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland senior women's team to finish on the podium for the eighth successive year.
"I went to the trials last month and was unwell so I'm pleased to be picked," says Clitheroe, whose prime target is the steeplechase at next summer's Beijing Olympic Games.
"It was only a 24-hour bug that laid me low and I feel everything has gone well in training since the trials.
"My No.1 priority is the steeplechase but I've gone back to cross country this winter to slog my way to fitness.
"Hopefully we shall do well as a team again. We were only just pushed into second place by Portugal last year.
"I imagine Spain will field a strong team this time as they are at home but we are always in with a shout."
