GARRY Flitcroft has beefed up his Chorley striking options with the signing of hotshot hitman Aaron Rey.

The Victory Park manager beat at least three clubs from higher up the non-league pyramid to capture the signature of the speedy Prescot Cables frontman.

The Magpies chief is delighted with his latest signing as he looks to maintain a position at the top of the Evo-Stik First Division North and said: “Aaron is an exciting talent and I’m delighted he’s agreed to sign for us.

“Three clubs from the Evo-Stik Premier were also competing for his signature but he’s decided to come here because he recognises this is a club with huge potential.”

The capture of the highly-rated Rey is a bonus for Flitcroft after he lost Mark Houghton to injury, while Chris Simm has returned to Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Southport on the conclusion of his loan spell.

Added the ex-Blackburn Rovers midfielder: “With Mark Houghton sidelined and Chris Simm now back at Southport, we needed to bring someone in upfront and Aaron fits the bill perfectly.

“He’s a target man and his style of play will give me a different option.

“I’ve watched him three times this season and on each occasion he’s really impressed me.

“He’s strong, he’s quick, he’s very direct and he knows how to finish.”
