Two former Fylde forwards sign for Preston Grasshoppers Preston Grasshoppers have signed two former Fylde forwards in the shape of back row Danny Waller and recent UCLan Students Union president, hooker Chris Lowden. Hoppers have also brought in Mike Gambles, a fly half from Whitehaven RLFC who has previously played for Orrell. Gambles will be looking to step into the shoes of South African number ten Gerhard Boshoff who has left to ply his trade in France, and looks set form a half back pairing with Daz Wilson, although Marcus Jackson is set return after long term injury problems. Another departure is Kiwi second row Andy Retallick who has returned to New Zealand. Hoppers fans will be pleased that last year’s First XV's Best Newcomer, tight head Richard Carleton, has decided to stay on at Preston while a now fully fit Anton Cramant is looking to regain his place in the first team while taking on the role of Second XV coach. Dave Chadwick has now stepped down from first team duties and taken on the Second XV captaincy. Hoppers head coach Alex Keay is expected to make further additions to the first and second team playing and coaching squad shortly.
