New Longton have taken a one point lead at the top of the Moore and Smalley Palace Shield Premier Division after their total of 172 was enough to secure a 15-run victory over Thornton Cleveleys. Former joint leaders Great Eccleston beat Penwortham who finished on 214-7 in reply to a total of 282-4. Elsewhere Freckleton beat BAC/Preston by seven wickets, while Vernon Carus were beaten by 30 runs at Garstang. Longridge beat Fulwood & Broughton by 78 runs and Fylde beat Whittingham and Goosnargh by 15 runs.

Leyland beat holders St Annes by two wickets in the first round of the 3D Northern Premier League Thwaites Cup at Fox Lane. Mansoor Ahmed top scored with 61 in St Annes' total of 182 with Peter Cummings claiming five wickets for 35. Leyland got off to a good start in reply until Ameer Khan's dismissal for 49 with the score at 109 for 2 in the 19th over sparked a mini-collapse but Lee Farrington and Matthew Watkinson steered them home. Leyland will be at home to Darwen in the second round with the tie due to be played on July 13.
