Preston North End fans are asking fans whether they would like to see - and hear - the return of drummers to Deepdale for the the 2008/09 season.

If the majority of supporters surveyed are in favour, the club would look to re-introduce the drums for the forthcoming campaign, employing 'roving drummers' who would move from stand to stand during the game. The club think this will increase the atmosphere at key points during the match.

Club officials say this policy would mean no-one in the ground would find themselves in close proximity to the drums for the entire duration of the game, though many supporters would be close to them for parts of the action.

Preston fans are asked to e mail matchday@pne.com or fill out a form at the club's ticket office or club shop, including your responses to the following essentials giving their name, which stand they normally sit in for home games.

They will be asked to give a response of a simple 'yes', 'yes, but not in my stand' or 'no' to the question 'do you want the drums to return?'

The club would also welcome any additional comments fans wish to make.

All submitted responses will be entered into a draw to win Preston North End's new 2008/09 away shirt, with one entrant selected at random to win the prize.

Answers must be sumbitted before midday on Friday July 18.
