Half-time: Preston North End 0 Burnley 0

BOTH sides have had chances to break the deadlock, with Chris Eagles' effort five minutes before the break undoubtedly the most spectacular.

The ball moved from former Preston favourite Graham Alexander, to Michael Duff then Eagles down the right, and the wide man was unlucky to see his swerving, dipping right-foot volley kept out by Andy Lonergan.

Alexander himself went close with a couple of shots from distance, while Chris McCann somehow cleared the bar from just two yards out in a goalmouth scramble.

At the opposite end, Sean St Ledger and Youl Mawene have threatened from corners, and Stephen Elliott gave Brian Jensen an early scare after running onto Callum Davidson's long ball.
