Colman 'to star in Wright musical'
Broadchurch star Olivia Colman is to star in a film musical about serial killer Steve Wright's murder spree, according to reports.
The actress, whose credits include Twenty Twelve and Rev, will play a neighbourhood watch organiser in London Road.
The film is based on a sell-out National Theatre show and is named after the Ipswich street where Wright lived.
Wright was found guilty of murdering five women who all worked as prostitutes in February 2008.
The naked bodies of the women, who worked in the Ipswich red light area, were found in isolated locations near the town between December 2 and December 12 2006.
Colman is reported to be taking the role of Julie, who helps residents on the road begin to turn the area around after the murders, with Tom Hardy also among the cast.
The National Theatre has scored several notable successes in transferring its stage hits to the big screen, with Alan Bennett's The History Boys moving from there to Broadway, the West End and eventually to the cinema in a film version starring James Corden and Richard Griffiths.
Other hits include War Horse, which was recently filmed by Steven Spielberg and featured Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch.
