Preston's Rachel Jones won the European Biathle Championships on Sunday and has been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Biathle Championships in Cape Town, South Africa, in November.

Preston's Helen Clitheroe sealed a place in Great Britain's squad for the Beijing Olympics when she broke the UK 300m steeplechase record with a new British record time of 9:36.98.

New Chorley Harriers captain Peter Gilham entered the club into the Pennine Bridleway Relays for the first time in their history and his team of ten did put in a superb effort, earning a place on the prize board to finish second placed in the mixed pairs category, and a commendable 27th from 76 teams overall.
