BLACKBURN Harriers youngster Robert Wong made it three wins out of three as he continues to dominate his peers in the Red Rose Cross Country League.

Wong was once again among the stand-out performers at the third fixture of the campaign, held at Bolton’s Leverhulme Park on Saturday.

Following on from earlier victories at Leigh and Hyndburn, he showed his prowess in the U15 boys category with a third win, this time by an outstanding 23-second advantage over nearest challenger, Chorley’s AC’s Fergus Tallon, who also turned in one of the performances of the day to push Connor Mahoney of Blackburn Harriers into third.

Jack Hindle completed a fine Harriers performance by coming sixth.

Fellow Harrier, Elizabeth Greenwood, was not present at Bolton to try and add to her victories at Leigh and Hyndburn in the U13 girls, allowing Corinna Howorth of Rossendale Harriers to grab her big chance and win her first league race of the year.

In the U11 boys, Pendle AC’s Kai Atkins finished second for a third successive meeting, while Natalya Irvine of Clayton le Moors Harriers also enjoyed a runners-up spot in the U11 girls, with Hannah Cookson of Blackburn Harriers in fourth.

Dominic Mahoney of Blackburn Harriers also came second in the U17 men, with Chorley AC’s Ryan Sciacca in seventh, while Rossendale Harrier Rebecca Flanagan registered a fourth place finish in the U15 girls section.

In the senior ladies category, Sarah Yeomans of Rossendale Harriers could not dislodge a Leigh Harriers one-two-three, finishing fourth, with club-mate Emma Flanagan seventh.

Joseph Johnston, Christopher Fell and Sam Tosh, all of Rossendale Harriers, finished second, third and fourth respectively in the men’s race, behing Bolton’s Thomas Carson.
